As a healthy living blogger, you know I like to live my life in a way that invites and encourages wellness and healthy behaviors as much as I can.

But at the same time, I am not a superhero – I am a busy girl with lots to do so being healthy does sometimes feel harder than it could.

So I thought you might be struggling sometimes too. Wellness is an important thing for all of us (or should be) and I’ll try to make it a bit easier and more accessible in this post.

Here are my favorite wellness “hacks” (but really, it’s just tips) for your everyday life so you can fit more healthy living into your day.

1. If you commute via train or bus, get off a stop or two before yours and walk the rest of the way.

I have been doing this for about a year now and it’s become a habit, it’s not even annoying or like meh, it’s just something I do and it’s my way of fitting a little bit of activity into my regular day.

If you don’t commute via public transit and you drive instead, why not parking a bit farther from your destination and walking the rest of the way? Maybe parking far in the parking lot or a few streets away… anything to get some extra walking steps into your day and get you moving more!

2. Use non-dairy milk instead of cow’s milk

I haven’t used cow’s milk in years. YEARS. And I could never go back to cow’s milk.

Not only it is great for your health to limit your dairy intake (I prefer to keep the dairy I do eat to cheese (sometimes) and yogurt), it’s also healthier overall. If you prefer to drink Soymilk, you can opt for that (learn more here) or if you prefer another non-dairy milk, you can do that.

3. When craving chocolate, make healthy alternatives

I am a chocoholic. I love chocolate. A lot.

A few squares of dark chocolate is sadly not enough for me. I like it too much.

So I’ve had to learn to find ways to satisfy by sweet tooth for chocolate with healthier alternatives that don’t require me to polish an entire block of chocolate.

First, I make a protein shake with chocolate protein powder and cocoa powder to make it super chocolatey. It usually hits the spot, plus the extra protein is filling and satisfying too.

Chocolate Chia Pudding

If I’m not in the sipping mood, I get some plain greek yogurt and add cocoa powder to that and some stevia and stir it up so it becomes chocolate yogurt. It’s like pudding and it’s freaking delicious.

Here are some other alternatives you can make instead of eating chocolate but that will still satisfy your craving quite well, if not better:

4. I exercise in the very morning as soon as I wake up

Yeah I do that before my brain has the time to come up with excuses not to. I’ve tried hard to be able to work out after work but it just doesn’t happen. Like, ever. I come up with every excuse in the book: too tired, too many people at the gym, it’s rush hour, I’m hungry I’ll do it later, and so on.

When I do it in the morning, I wake up and boom.. I do it. No excuses. Nothing to hold me back. I have no other commitments that early so this is the only thing that’s on the agenda. So it gets done.

That would be all – the simplest and my favorite wellness hacks to get you to be a little bit healthier in your everyday life.
