Hypnosis for weight loss

Spread the love

The first time I ever tried hypnosis for weight loss was about 4 years ago. I was a junior or senior in high school. I have been a complete believer and supporter of this method ever since. After reading the book about hypnosis and its potential strengths, I was sold. I believed it could help me, since it has apparently helped so many others. I listened to the tracks and followed the plan for listening. I thought I did not change my eating habits at all. I thought I was living life the same way as I always was. Before I know it, I lost 20 pounds. I did not even realize I did. It just melted off. There was no struggle. I have been chubby all my teen years until I listened to hypnosis, reprogrammed my mind and the pounds just literally disappeared. It was effortless. This is why I still come back to hypnosis as a method for weight management/loss. Some programs are better than others. I have tried many programs and there are only a few that have worked for me. Unfortunately, I think the first time works the best and then if you fall off the wagon and something happens and you gain the weight back (Freshman 15 happened for me, eek!), I found it slightly more difficult for the hypnosis to work. It still worked, but since I already knew what the dude was saying to me in the tracks, I felt like I might have not been as into it as I was the first time. Either way, I think it’s a method worth checking out if you are looking to lose some weight or better your eating habits. You have to know that in order for hypnosis to work, you have to whole-heartedly BELIEVE it will work for you. It’s a completely mental thing. It’s all psychological. If you doubt it will work, it won’t. You have to trust it. That’s why I recommend always reading the book the CDs come with. It will prep you up mentally and “sell” you on the idea of self-hypnosis and its effectiveness.

Here’s my list of tried programs:

  • The first and the best program I have done is Tom Kersting’s book “Losing Weight When Diets Fail“. The plan lasts 3 weeks. There are 3 tracks, you have to listen to one for a week and then go on to the next one and so on. Before you know it, you will start losing pounds. It focuses on proper nutrition, eating slowly, and exercise. The tracks are only around 20 minutes long and it ends with you getting de-hypnotized and being able to go about your day energized. I highly recommend it.
  • Another program I’ve done is by Dr. Roberta Temes and is called “Enjoying Weight Loss”, which I found less successful simply because it focuses on you staying on track with an eating program you have picked for your weight loss journey. I think in order for this to work, you actually have to have a cut-out plan. If you do, it might work for you. The lady’s voice is calm and soothing. The tracks are short (10-20 minutes) and there are 5 or 6 different ones. You are to listen to each for 3 days before moving on to the next one.
  • The third option I’ve tried is by Steve G Jones. He has platinum edition recordings (which are the ones that are supposed to work the best out of his collection) dedicated to many things, including weight loss, binge eating, exercising, etc. The thing that does not exactly work for me in his recordings is that they are each 2 hours long and are only supposed to be listened to right before sleep as he preps you for a deep sleep in the last minutes of the track. Unfortunately for me, these sleep preps do not work and I end up tossing and turning all night afterwards. Hm. A good thing about him is, if you subscribe to his email, he constantly has promotions where he sells his recordings for only $1 each. So that’s a bang for your buck.

So there ya have it.

    Thanks for your wonderfull post.

  4. Hi Kammie, I just came across your page today and have learned so much already. Your post about “Don’t Beat yourself up” well, I could have wrote that myself…. I have always been obsessed with my weight (I’m 46 now) and have been yoyo dieting and binging for over 20 years now. I will do great for a few weeks (I think like you I go too restrictive) then I end up binging for a week (like this past week) and feel and look 10lbs heaview. Then I do good for a few weeks and then binge!!!! I just want to break this cycle. I have been doing accupuncture the last few weeks, but have always wondered about the hypnosis tapes/books. My mother did hypnosis for smoking and it did work. So I am tempted to try the one that you tried first. Just wanted to get your opinion on this.
Thank you, and I look forward to reading your blog.

    • Wendy, thank you for sharing your story with me. I definitely know how you feel — I encourage you to try the hypnosis, especially the first one I mentioned that worked for me the best. Just make sure you read the book before jumping into the audio – it works better this way, as it opens your mind up more and it makes you even more susceptible to reprogramming your mind. I would love to hear your feedback when you do it if it worked for you! Best of luck!!

  5. Thanjs Kammie, I am going to order the book today, and I will definately let you know how it works out!!! After the three weeks, is it something you have to keep practising? Thanks again

  6. Fascinating! I’m a firm believer in the power of the mind; so much is going on in our subconscious, if we could only figure out how to harness it!
