Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a marvelous Monday today! To start, I have a marvelous book to review for you guys…
So the blog world has been crazy about this book, Daugher of Smoke and Bones, for a while now. I’ve seen it on numerous blogs and about how great it is so I finally got my hands on the book courtesy of my local library and started reading. I will start off by saying I did not begin the book on a promising note. The book is a young adult novel (even though I’m only 22, I already find most YA novels too “young” for me, I need more sexy time in there! 😛 hehe) and it is also a sci-fi novel (one genre I am not a fan of…
like at all ). So you can see why I was skeptical of the book.
The Daugher of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor was a truly amazing read. It is written skillfully well, it was very engaging and easy to visualize in my head. I felt like I was watching a movie as I was reading it, everything was described well (but without overwhelming descriptions) and the action to conversation to description ratio was perfectly balanced. The book starts off relatively normal and calm but it gets more and more intense as the plot thickens and becomes more complex. I have grown to really love Karou and understood her throughout the book. I felt for her. Her stuggles were my struggles. Well not really, but you get my point.
This was also one of the few books that I knew I could finish in a day but because it was so good, I purposely dragged it out, so I allowed myself only to read a little bit at a time, so that the pleasure and satisfaction from reading wouldn’t be gone too soon. Yep, it’s good! I am happy that there will be a sequel (coming November 6!!) and I cannot wait till it comes out! I am dying to know what happens next!
More Marvelous things:
awkward marvelous moment when you put on an older dress and it’s too big on you <3
Marvelous moments when you try something new and it tastes great… such as when I tried spaghetti squash for the first time. And Trader Joe‘s new puffed wheat cereal – marvelous taste and nutritional stats. Only 100 calories per 1 cup and it’s sweetened with agave . It also has 3g protein. Simply delicious. I love the texture. I eat it as a topping in my yogurt parfait (of course).
