Happy Thanksgiving to all of my US friends! This holiday is not something I grew up with. We don’t have it in Poland, obviously, as it’s a national holiday. My Thanksgiving is not spent nearly as crazy and fun and family-oriented as most US families’. Unfortunately, having my family scattered all over the world makes the fact that I spend the holidays only with my parents pretty lonely but I don’t complain too much. I like spending time with them. We don’t do the whole crazy dinner thing but we will have turkey breast, cranberry sauce, and some other good food on the table tonight. My mom also made delicious pumpkin muffins and a pumpkin tiramisu. I’m excited to share all of those eats with you guys on WIAW on Wednesday! Should be fun.
I am thankful for having my parents with me every step of the way. They support me in all my choices and they respect my decisions. I am thankful for their trust in me to do well in school and work, and they are always there to encourage and cheer me on when I am unsure about my future plans or whatever else. They are my biggest fans and they always make me feel good about my accomplishments. I would not be anywhere near where I am today without them. I love them both dearly.
I am thankful for having the resources available to me. I realize many people do not have the resources we do, such as the internet, at such an ease of availability. I am grateful for having these technology advancements in our life, and while many are pointless and some ridiculous, they keep me in awe about what the human brain can do and the things we can develop. I am thankful to be living in such an age where these advancements are happening.
I am thankful for having good health. I am healthy, sane, and happy (for the most part). I am thankful to have the time, power, and ability to be able to focus on my happiness and self-growth as a person. I find it extremely important that we continue to better ourselves as people and I am thankful for being aware of this and having the opportunity to do this and share the process and knowledge with others.
I am thankful for art. Art is a way I am able to express myself, whether it is using photography, drawing, or dancing around to music. Art is there with me every step of every day. Without it, life would be bland and boring and expressing ourselves would not come as easily.
I am thankful for the blog world and my readers. You guys keep me going, you are there for me when I need to vent, and give me encouragement or critiques that I need to hear so badly. There are things I don’t share with my friends that I am able to share with you and you have given me the opportunity to no longer bottle things up and let things go easier than before. I no longer hold things in only to break me inside. I am able to share them with you, hoping and knowing, that there are some of you out there going through the same thing and willing to give me strength in myself just through simple words. Thank you for being there!
And while I am not super religious, I am thankful for God giving me the life that I have, with all its ups and downs because it’s the best life I could ask for for myself. Your life is what you make of it, and I try to make the most of mine. Thank you.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
