Alright, this is exciting. I made my first Lasagna!!! Woohoo!!

I’ve always liked lasagna even though I’m not a big pasta eater but it’s certainly a nice dish to eat whenever I would go to an Italian restaurant (aka not often). I’ve never made a lasagna and I don’t think my mom has ever made it either. I think I’ve always thought of lasagna as being super difficult to make as a recipe at home so I dismissed the possibility.

Then I thought, ah heck why not! I might as well try it. I asked my mom for tips and she shared some recipes she had written down. I wrote some things down and made my own adapted version and here it is!

I went to Dominick’s and bought the Barilla Lasagna noodles and Barilla Mushroom Tomato sauce. I was debating whether I should get the no-boil noodles or the regular lasagna noodles but then I thought that I might as well get the real legit experience of making lasagna so I went for the regular ones that I had to cook. It was time to take out my big pot anyway.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the lasagna-cooking process was. Sure, there are multiple steps but I was done with the cooking sooner than I expected. I was feeling mushroomy so I made this lasagna veggieful (of course) and filled with mushrooms. Not only did I use Barilla Mushroom Tomato Sauce but I also added chopped fresh mushrooms in the sauce itself! Going all out there!

My casserole dish is smaller than I expected and I was hoping everything would turn out okay and nothing would spill out. I only ended up using 6 lasagna noodles and had the rest cooked and just put in the fridge. But I’ll admit, I ate like 3-4  cooked noodles just by themselves as I was standing there. I couldn’t help myself. I never eat pasta but as soon as I tasted it I was like wow, this is delicious!

Okay, am I the only one that thinks of Italian dishes as fancy? I can’t help but light candles and pour some red wine and make the dinner into a date night with myself whenever I have Italian food. Something about it is just so romantic… am I the only one here?? Let me know in the comments, do you feel like Italian food is romantic and do you feel like I do or do you just eat it like nothing?

  1. Yup I think that Italian food is quite romantic and special ans stuff. And obviously delicious, just like this lasagna! I love that it’s full of veggies, and the mushrooms addition is plain fantastic!
