What Does it Mean to Value Someone?

November 25, 2020 By Kammie @ Sensual Appeal

what does it mean to value someone

There are some friends in life who we like and enjoy spending time with. They are great if you want a quick chat or a partner in crime when it comes to going to the shops.

These friends might come and go during our life.

We might lose contact with them or just not get in touch very often. That’s fine when it comes to these types of friends.

However, there are some friendships which have much tighter bonds. These are the people you keep in touch with forever and the people you go to when you have a problem in your life.

These are the friends you can’t imagine not spending time with ever again.

These friends are the people you value you the most. But a lot of people can be confused about who they value in their life.

What does it mean to value someone? And how can you tell if you really value someone? Here are some ways to know if you value someone and if they feel the same way back.

You respect them

You will know if you value someone if you respect them. You are polite to them when you see them and you always have time to listen to what they say.

You will also never talk bad about them to anyone, and you won’t let other people say anything bad about them either.

In fact, you might speak out if someone does say something mean or rude about the person.

This is because you respect them and don’t feel like they should be treated wrongly, as they are very special to you.

When you have this kind of relationship with someone, it means you hold them in the highest regard.

You think of them highly and don’t want people to treat them badly. It ultimately means you value them and what they are about.

Even if they might not be the richest or the most popular person in the world, you respect them and that makes for one special friendship.

You don’t take them for granted

We often take relationships for granted.

We expect the person to always text back when we message them and we think that the person will always be around for us. In fact, we might kick off if they do pass by a chance to hang out with us. We think they will always be our friend.

However, if you treat friendships like that, it’s unlikely you really value the other person.

After all, when you value someone, you don’t take them for granted. You make the effort to ensure they know how much they mean to you.

That could be by telling them how great a friend they are to you or even showering them with gifts occasionally to show them how much they mean to you.

When someone is really special to you, you won’t drop them for something else that comes along.

You will probably make sure you spend a good amount of time with them every week.

You need to make sure you don’t take that special friend for granted. After all, you never know when it might be the last time you see them.

And if they don’t feel valued as a friend, they might end your friendship and then you will live with the regret that you took them for granted.

You care about them deeply

We care about our friends and what is going on with their lives. After all, we ultimately want them to be okay and have a nice life.

But when you really value someone, you will find that you care about them a lot more deeply.

You appreciate them and care about them deeply so you want to make sure you are there for them.

So, if something bad happens in their life, you will drop everything to be there for them.

If someone treats them badly, you will feel hurt too because you value them as a person and really care about them.

You will pay more of an interest in their life. You are likely to want to help them when it comes to things such as relationships and work.

And if you do value them, you are bound to be extremely happy for them when things do go right for them.

You appreciate them as a person

When you value someone, it means that you appreciate them as a person. You value their mind and soul and can see how amazing they are.

For instance, you might see how brilliant they are at their job or studies.

You might use them as an example when it comes to people who inspire you in your life. Or you might find it fantastic how they talk to certain people or how confident they might be. After all, we value people who are good with others.

You might even value how they look. For instance, you might find them beautiful or great looking. You find them of high worth which is a great compliment to the person.
