What I Ate Wednesdays #1

Hello! Today is my first time participating in WIAWΒ and I am so excited. Not because I’m like a star eater and I freaking rock at eating and boom, be jealous, I had this and that for lunch and I managed to resist all cravings and I ate so perfectly clean it’s noteworthy. No, not at all.. I wouldn’t call myself a perfectly disciplined eater at all. I love food. Sometimes, I love it too much. It’s okay, it’s common (I hope?). Food tastes good and it makes us feel good, so we want more of it! Duh. And I try to resist cravings but sometimes, when they are so strong, I can’t just not give in. Otherwise I will eat everything in sight and then end up inhaling the craving anyway. So yeah. Not saying that today was a bad day at all, but I guess it’s just a little opener to all future WIAW posts. I prepped myself up with some self-hypnosis last night because I felt myself lagging in the healthy eating department. Anyway, this post was written yesterday, Tuesday.

Being a college student is great because I get to sleep in. I wake up around 9:30a every morning simply because I love getting my 8-9 hours of sleep as much as I can. After a great weight lifting workout with Chalean Extreme’s Burn circuit 1 (started week 3!), I went for my usual breakfast – eggs. This time I made scrambled egg whites with spinach and onions as well as some mozzarella. I top it all with pineapple salsa from Trader Joe’s. I can’t go without drinking some green tea in morning, especially after working out, since it apparently helps your body recover just as well as protein does. [more on increasing workout effectiveness here].

I was able to relax and check some email and read your lovely posts through my Google Reader. Something I look forward to every day. I went to class at 12:30p for Psychology Research Methods in which we thankfully did not do very much besides listen to a lecture we will not even be tested on. This left me more time to check more blog posts from you lovelies. At 2pm, it was time for a small lunch right before my second class. I had the leftover apple oatmeal mini muffins. So good, still very moist and delicious. Initially I planned on having two but I was still a little hungry after those so I ate my last one as well. Good thing I brought three, just in case.

Honors Sustainability class is one of the only classes I have ever been super bored in college. I am always into every lecture of almost every course. But not this one. Don’t get me wrong, sustainability is important in our society, but something about this class just makes me want to skip it every week. Maybe it’s the professor, maybe it’s the content, maybe it’s because it’s 2 and half hours. I don’t know. But every week, I seriously think those 2 and half hours last 15 instead. So boring. When I got home I had me a cafeteria wheat wrap with turkey, provolone, and lettuce, pickles, cucumber, and onions. I used the lasts of my pineapple salsa on this wrap. Sad face.

An hour and a half later, I was hungry already. This might have been a hungry + craving. It starts when I get home from school and start being bored. I’m too lazy to do homework ahead of time. It’s cause it’s cold and weird outside. I just want warm weather back! I decided to have some bananas, peanut butter, cottage cheese, and rice cereal. Mmmm. I might have also had a cookie. *ashamed*

I always do so well until I get home! It’s the evening that is always my downfall. Smh.

    • It’s Better’n Peanut Butter, has 100 calories for 2 Tbsps. It’s pretty good, although I’m still not a HUGE fan of PB. I’m gonna get almond butter again once I’m done with this one haha

  9. I totally know that extremely bored feeling you are having in your class! I don’t know what it is, but some classes seem to drag on forever and some just fly by. It might be the education major in me, but I always blame it on bad teaching. A good teacher can make any subject matter engaging and exciting. Oh well, we have to suffer through them all πŸ™‚

    I’ve been seeing that pineapple salsa pop up a lot recently… I think I am going to have to give it a try! Looks delish!

    • Yeah I got it at TJ Maxx, it was just too cute to pass up. Plus it’s HUGE so I don’t have to refill the tea when I’m done drinking. I like a LOT of tea haha. Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚

    I found I like to get a really good lifting workout in the evening because then I sleep like a baby!

    • I would totally go for lifting weights in the evenings but that’s when everyone else tends to go in the gym too. And then I have no weights to use for my workout πŸ™

    I’m totally going to check out that link you posted about workout effectiveness. I always drink protein after lifting weights, but if I can drink green tea (and save money) I might have to give it a go.
