What I Ate Wednesdays #16: Enjoy Life ‘Seed and Fruit’ Mix {review}

Hey friends!

It’s a Wednesday’s Eating party, ekhm, I mean – What I Ate Wednesdays! Today is a record of yesterday (Tuesday’s) eats! Yum. I have absolutely nothing else to say so I’m gonna dig right in today’s eats and the later review of these awesome Seed and Fruit mixes.

Fitness: In the morning upon waking, I went down to the gym (even though I totally didn’t feel like it this morning) and I did a weight training session on my legs and glutes. It could have gone better, I could have pushed harder but I didn’t. I wasn’t feeling it. I totally am glad I went and felt better afterwards anyway. In the evening, I went to my neighborhood gym to do some slow cardio on an elliptical while reading a book.


8:40am- PB&J Protein Shake but a small variation of it that ended up tasting even better. Mmm

9:30am: Raspberry Green Tea right before internship

11:30am: Journey’s Bar Coconut Curry. It was… interesting. Not as bad as I expected but I definitely prefer my sweet bars. (for some reason my phone ate my photos I took till up until December… so yeah.. that’s fun)

12:30pm: Think Thin Crunchy Chocolate Dipped Nuts Trial size bar

3:30pm: Veggie salad with goat cheese and currants. I’ve been obsessed with adding goat cheese to my salads lately.

6:30pm: Chocolate Coconut Protein Shake. It was alright but needs some tweaking before I can post the recipe up.

8pm: Cocoa mixed Greek yogurt topped with fresh cherries and Enjoy Life ‘Beach Bash‘ Seed and Fruit mix.

A bit more about the topping on the above…

Enjoy Life is a company I trust to always deliver great allergy-friendly products. Every product I have tried by this company has been awesome and left me wanting to run out and get more. The ‘not nuts! Seed and Fruit Mix’ is no exception.This mix has been created with people in mind who are allergic to nuts and wish they could use it more often in yogurts and other concoctions, or just plain straight out of the bag. This mix includes various seeds and fruits, the two variations I tried were the Beach Bash (which includes Raw Sunflower Kernels, Pineapple, Roasted Hulled Pumpkin Seeds, Cranberries, Apricots)…

…and Mountain Mambo (which includes Raw Sunflower Kernels, Roasted Hulled Pumpkin Seeds, Raisins, Dried Apples, Chocolate Chips, Cranberries). These products have been around for a while but they have recently created new fresh packaging.

I have to admit I am not a huge seed eater. I don’t even actually eat nuts that often either. But I enjoyed eating these salty, sweet, and slightly crunchy mixes in my yogurt parfaits. I used it yesterday in the parfait you saw above. I also liked it in this Pumpkin Spice Arctic Zero protein ice cream concoction with drizzled vanilla Lifeway Kefir and the Mountain Mambo ‘Seed and Fruit Mix’ on top to give it a more of an Autumn feel. You already know I can’t wait till Fall… 😉

  3. Your pics are all gorgeous! That Journey Bar flavor was interesting to me at first too but it definitely grows on you! Your PB and J smoothie looks fantastic, as well:)

    • It was strange yeah, I only had one bar though and I doubt I’ll actually buy another one. I’m just so used to eating sweeter bars! haha & Thank you 🙂

  8. I’ve bought the same trail mixes before but in different flavors from the ones you show here. They’re great!! That Beach Bash one sounds incredible btw! I love what you did with them 🙂

  9. haha…I’m glad I’m not the only one who reads a book on the elliptical 😉 although I find it easier with my iPad, since many of my actual books have gone crashing down way too many times…why do they make those ledges you can put your books on so small?

    • Oh yeah I know right. I just hate reading on my iPad, I love the real books… I’m a grandma. lol. Gotta be careful not to go on the ellipticals with the moving handles too, I’ve done that before and I’ve hit my arms by them while holding the book and got HUGE bruises lol it was a sad time

  10. That seed and fruit mix looks great. I have to find some.

    I read my ipad on the elliptical, and sometime books or mags, expect my tragedy last week when I tried to remove my magnetic cover while on my elliptical and dropped it four feet onto my concrete basement floor. 🙁 Luckily it still works. It had a hairline crack in the screen, but no pix-elation, your can hardly notice it.

    • Ohhhh my gosh, I would have freaked out! That’s one of the reasons why I don’t use my iPad. Other than the fact that I don’t really like reading on the iPad (except for my Google Reader, I’m cool with that) but I prefer real life books, haha. I’m old school. Thank god your iPad still works!

  12. Yummyyyy those seed and fruit mixes look awesome. I’ve been obsessed with goat cheese too lately…I put it in my breakfast eggs, lunch salad, and dinner veggie bowl yesterday!

  13. Those mixes look really good and I love that they are gluten free! I still have your smoothie recipe bookmarked to make! It looks so great! I love that nighttime snack too! Looks delicious! I love goat cheese in my salads too! It’s the only thing I always have to put in mine!
