What I Ate Wednesdays #19: One Cent iPhone case

Hello friends, welcome to WIAW! Thanks to Jen for hosting.

I want to begin by asking you guys to check out my first contributing article on One Green Planet. I wrote some tips for incoming college students about campus life and surviving the dining hall as a vegan or vegetarian as well as staying eco-friendly!

The meals and fun was recorded for yesterday (Tuesday).

The alarm woke me up at 730a and at first I thought “nahh, I’m not gonna work out, I’ll do it after work” and I turned it off. But then after 5 minutes my brain was screaming at me for being lazy and I decided to get up and workout after all. Thank you, Brain! Seems like I really am turning over a new healthier leaf, truly 🙂 Makes me happy.

Fitness: Today was a “pull” weight training day and I did a great job, I was in the gym for 50 minutes. During weighted squats and push ups though I got this intense headache/ head pain in the back of my head where it connects with the neck, slightly to the right side. It was so bad that I couldn’t do the exercises as well as I could have done them otherwise. This has been happening for the past week. Then it just kept hurting slightly but it’s good now… I don’t know what is wrong, did I pull a muscle? Thoughts?

Meal 1: Banana & Peach Protein Shake topped with granola. Green tea on the side.

Meal 2: Turkey Breast Subway 6″ on wheat (way too many carbs, sigh)

Meal 3: Salad with hummus, salsa, and nooch – trying to compensate for the carb load with more fats

Shopping: I got one $10 coupon for being a DSW rewards member, and another $10 coupon for spending a certain amount of money with them already. So I ended up getting this cute iPhone case for one cent! Haha, gotta love being a frugalista 😉 I also got this cute blazer in Forever 21.

Meal 4: Starfruit Cafe frozen kefir (coconut and blueberry flavor – I love love love) topped with berries – I couldn’t help myself, it was 2 Punch Tuesday after all! And I love them there, I go there so much, I get hooked up every time by getting a medium size for the price of a small, every time. Love love <3

Fitness: I went on the elliptical for 25 minutes while reading a book and then 20 more minutes on a bike.

Meal 5: focusing on getting protein + fats rather than carbs, so I made a protein muffin/donut/thing with some peanut butter glaze on top. Nom.

Snack: Pistachios

The day didn’t end up being as bad as I thought it would be – although the Subway set me back with the huge amount of carbs it provides, I wasn’t exactly prepared for that so I had to make sure the rest of my meals were lower carb.

I still have another 6″ to go tomorrow but at least this time I’ll be better prepared! Less carbs for breakfast, perhaps?

  6. I am with Danielle.. I always look forward to your WIAW posts! your food looks so good and you take such awesome pictures. Honestly, carbs are good. you work out a lot. embrace them 🙂 I eat a ginormous bowl of cereal every tuesday night after teaching two zumba classes around 10 pm. It doesn’t affect me 😉 You eat well, darlin’!

    • Aw thanks love but I am not nearly as active as you! I’m on a fat loss program now I talked about in an earlier post called Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle, and I’m going the moderate carb route to lose fat (hopefully) over a longer period of time. Not trying to do anything drastic and impossible either, going for 50% carbs though which has been fine except for some days (like yesterday) was almost a total bust haha

  9. Looks like great eats! Hopefully your neck is feeling better. Sounds like you have pulled a muscle or tendon or something. I would get your physio to check it out, I have put off injuries before and it has ended a lot worse than if I had just got it checked out when it first happened.

    • Ahhh, I’ll wait and see if it persists and if it does then I’ll go see a physio. I hope it doesn’t get to that point. Doctors are so darn expensive 🙁 Even with insurance.
