What I Ate Wednesdays #5: Finals Week

Spread the love

Sigh, it’s that time of the semester again – finals week. Unfortunately, I am much much more unmotivated and lazy this semester than I ever have which is weird because this is also the first semester I’m only taking 4 classes. It’s really taking a lot for me to study and stay on top of things although I’m not the type of person that doesn’t do anything ever – so of course I still do what I’m supposed to. I’m an Honors student after all! It’s just not a fun time.

On Saturday evening, we did a double date at Uncommon Ground on Clark St in Chicago with my boyfriend’s best friend and his girl who’s just gotten back from being in Ecuador for a year for Peace Corps. This restaurant has been named the most environmentally-friendly restaurant in the whole United States. My boyfriend and I have been before and decided it was time to make a return. I had vegan farro cakes which were all organic, delicious, but pretty darn expensive ($18!)

Now, let’s look into a day of eats of Kammie, shall we? This is what I ate on Monday:

I woke up and decided not to do my pre-breakfast workout since I realized I’ve been overtraining. I think giving my body a little break is a good idea. Back on it tomorrow though! I had an egg white scramble with some veggies & cheese, topped with pineapple salsa. Oolong tea on the side. (Ps. Yeah, I had to use the self-directed camera because I used my iPad which has a cover. Pardon me in the background lol)

I had a delicious fruit smoothie from a local quick sushi spot. Strawberry & Papaya with green jelly on bottom. Mmm!

Upon seeing Starfruit Cafe‘s Facebook status about today being a free size upgrade day, I realized that I haven’t been there in 3 weeks! It’s about time I make a return. So I had a frozen kefir treat (raspberry swirled with chocolate truffle) topped with mixed berries and cinnamon. Amazing. My favorite treat EVER.

Spinach wrap with a bunch of veggies inside – steamed collard greens, cooked mushrooms and carrots, lettuce, onions, pickles. I eat it with salsa. I just love salsa, haha.

  1. Spinach wrap looks incredible! You had me at Spinach 🙂 Pulled something in my glute so having to take a bit of a workout break too, so frustrating not being able to run, clearly I was over doing it (and not stretching 🙁 )

  2. I can understand being less motivated when you have less classes 🙂 Less you do = less you want to do! Also an honours student haha, and that was me this semester until I deferred due to other commitments.
Also taking a workout break at this time due to illness. Break = sucks 🙁

  3. The wrap sounds delicious! I wish we had more options for vegan/veg friendly restaurants here in Cincinnati.

  7. Oh my goodness that delicious frozen treat you got is superb looking! Also the spinach wrap is a win as well, all good foods to get you through studying Kammie 🙂 So glad you stopped by my blog, thanks for reading!

  8. Oh my gosh, that spinach wrap looks to die for! And that frozen treat – wow. That’s amazing.

  9. Happy WIAW! That vegan farro cake looks wonderful and so does your spinach wrap. I have finals next week, so I feel your pain. Good luck with your finals! 🙂

  10. That’s great that you took a break off your morning workout since you felt you were overworking out! That spinach wrap looks fantastic! 🙂

  11. Frozen Kefir sounds excellent! I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for that.

  12. Uhh, I used to hate finals week! It always seemed like a bunch of stress over something so silly, to me. But I completely understand. I was never an honors students (I guess I’m a slacker when it comes to academics – I’m more interested in my art studies), but that’s great that you are pushing yourself to do that, even if you are feeling less motivated as of late.

Loving the spinach wrap! Haven’t had any type of wrap in so long. I need to get on that!

  13. Love your blog! We could totally get along. I love photgraphy and am trying to work more vegan eating into my life. If only I had more time!

  14. You are soo healthy.. and inspiring! I’ve never had frozen kefir, is this something new?? Is it a vegan form of frozen yogurt?? xo Smidge

    • It’s not vegan, kefir is still fermented from milk but it has a much much higher level of probiotic bacteria in it and higher protein content, therefore it’s much healthier.
