What Is Non-Surgical Aesthetics?

Non-Surgical Aesthetics

Everyone wants to look beautiful. Some people are blessed in that they are naturally beautiful, while for the majority of people, there may be elements of their appearance that they would like to change. Some people may want to change the shape and size of their nose, while others may want to have their ears pinned back.

Whatever it is you want to have changed, the chances are that it’s possible through various forms of cosmetic surgery or procedures.

However, not everyone wants to undergo a surgical procedure, especially for something that is not exactly life threatening, and merely for aesthetic reasons.

No-Surgical procedures

Not all cosmetic procedures involve surgery, and there are a number of different procedures that you have carried out to alter your appearance that are non-surgical.

In 2019 alone, the value of the non-surgical cosmetic procedures was just under USD 10 billion. That is a huge figure, and one that looks set to continue growing into the foreseeable future as more and more people in the world’s aging population desire to have a natural and youthful appearance.

There are various procedures that you can have performed at your local beautician, without the need to visit a hospital, such as at the Long Island’s famous med spa. In this article, we will take a look at some of the most popular types of non-surgical procedures for aesthetics, and look at the benefits of having such a procedure.

Removing wrinkles

One of the most popular procedures for people who wish to have a more youthful look are treatments for wrinkles. Unfortunately as we get older, our skin starts to sag and loses much of its natural elasticity. Some people wear their wrinkles with pride, as though a badge of honour, while others prefer to have them removed.

The main area of the face that is treated non-surgically for wrinkles is the forehead and the corners of the eyes. There are injections of botulinum toxin, such as Botox or Xeomin, that offer a temporary fix for wrinkles and drastically reduce their appearance. The toxin works by relaxing the muscles in the face that are constantly clenched which create the frown lines and crows feet that you’ll find on the forehead and eyes.

The procedure is fairly quick and straightforward, and you should start seeing the results within 3 to 7 days, when the skin is noticeably smoother in the areas where the injections were made. In order to maintain the results, people will usually need to have repeat procedures every 3 to 6 months at the start, but then gradually less after that.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

The nose job is one of the most in demand types of cosmetic surgery and is something that hundreds of thousands of people each year will have in order to better improve the appearance of their nose.

Surgical rhinoplasty is the only real option if there are to be major changes made to the structure and shape of the nose, and this usually leads to a longer recovery time as well as being pretty painful. It also means that the patient will likely need to wear a special nose protection for a few weeks after the procedure has taken place.

For smaller cosmetic changes, non-surgical rhinoplasty can be carried out on the patient while they are fully awake, without them having to be sedated, with procedures that are a lot less painful with much shorter recovery times. These non-surgical procedures are sometimes referred to as “liquid nose jobs”.

The procedure is one which uses a very fine needle, filled with dermal filler (known by official name as hyaluronic acid), which is injected in specific locations of the nose in very small amounts. It’s a good option for those who have a hooked shaped nose, or one which is a little crooked, and who want to have their nose straighten out.

Lip Augmentation

Having a fuller pout is something that a lot of women desire, and this can be achieved through the non-surgical procedure of lip augmentation. Lips will naturally get thinner and lose their volume as we age, so even if you were lucky enough to be born with full lips, there’s no guarantee that you’ll always have them.

The lips are one of the focal points of the face and are something that many people desire to have fixed on their own faces. The procedure involves various types of dermal fillers, with hyaluronic acid being the most popular used by many professionals, as it is a very safe option.

The procedure is a straightforward one that should usually take anywhere between 15 to 30 minutes. The time needed for recovery is only a few days, and lip augmentation has a very high satisfaction rate among individuals who chose to have the procedure. The initial results of the treatment are visible almost immediately, with the full results needing about 2 weeks to be visible, with the results lasting between 6 to 12 months.

Hair restoration

Hair loss is something that plagues a large percentage of men all over the world, as well as a number of women who also suffer from the condition. There are various forms of cosmetic procedures to combat hair loss, but one of the most popular over the past few years has been carried out with the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Nanofat technology.

PRP treatments can be used for a range of medical conditions and injuries, and is a very popular form of treatment for sports related injuries, where surgery can be avoided.

The procedures for hair restoration usually take about 45 minutes, and are very safe and effective. With PRP, you are actually using your own blood, rather than any chemicals. There is next to no recovery time, so you can continue with your regular daily routine right away.

The results of the procedure will usually be visible from around 2 to 4 months after it taking place. Most people will need to have a few follow up procedures done about a month apart from one and other.

Some final thoughts

There are a number of non-surgical procedures available for cosmetic purposes, and these are proving to be more and more popular as it avoids the need for surgery, which always carries some form of risk.

With non-surgical procedures, the individual is usually able to carry on with their regular routine, with little to no recovery time needed, and many procedures can be performed during ones lunch break, without the need of taking a lot of time off work.
